@electronicsfanatic Actually, that happened before this scene happened, and after the flashback, Steve again told Laura he's not worthy of her, but loves her more now than he did then. Steve should have bought a Mega Millions ticket after Laura wanted to marry him, lucky SOB. Laura's equally lucky she had someone love her so much he dumped another attractive woman with all his nerdy interests (Myra) for her (who shares little of his nerdy interests).

This scene is without a doubt, the saddest scene ever in Family Matters. Following this scene was the scene when Urkel and Laura were married in a project and Steve admitted he's not worthy but he can't help loving Laura, which really touched her.
