This meeting of the titans -- the master multi-instrumentalist Anthony Braxton and the H.N.I.C. Mayor of Middletown's North End, Ernest Butts -- took place in the early 1990s at a Ponderosa near Wesleyan University in Connecticut. In this clip, Part I, Braxton touches on racism, the Nation of Islam, and war/strife in/around 20th century America. The man is equally amazing in both music and personal philosophy. Ernest Butts is a wonderful counterpoint-voice to Braxton's sincere dissection of society...

Wow. These two men (particularly Braxton) are both expressing some deeply intriguing ideologies. I have to side with Braxton on this one, though.

Before I watched this video today I didn't know who Ernest Butts was. In five minutes I grew to respect him; will want to learn more about him. And the comments Anthony Braxton made at the end of the clip were intriguing. Thanks for filming this and sharing it.
