I completely concur with your entire sense of logic. Not following the TEACHINGs and IDEAS of the bible lead to a corrupt society. Example:

Sleeping around = unwanted pregnancy = single moms (60% of poverty in US) = children without role models (do worse at everything) =violence/drugs = etc.

Most religions give a false sense of whats right and wrong because they are prone to perspective. If everyone followed the eye for an eye rule, we'd all be blind.
