A day after being hauled to court, over the cemetery scandal, Nairobi mayor, Geophrey Majiwa, stayed put in office, as councillors demanded his resignation. The mayor seems to be riding on the notion that he is not a state officer, as defined in the new constitution. But as Yassin Juma reports, pressure is mounting on him to bow out.

Nairobi should be run by qualified professionals and not thugs like the ones speaking here. No wonder Nairobi is very badly run. Majiwa must go, being Mayor especially of a city like Nairobi make you a state official. Nairobi is not just a backward village in Turkana but the capital of Kenya and being Mayor is a huge task.
