Host, Brooklyn Monk, Antonio Graceffo is in Bangkok training Muay Thai at Chakrit gym. Muay Thai is a sacred and ancient art and Thailand is the country with the most fighters in the world, over 90,000 registered professional fighters. Chakrit is an excellent gym for foreigners training in Bangkok because they know how to work with foreigners, even with a Brooklyn Monk.

  • to me muay chaiya the old thai art looks nothing like the khmer fighting style so i do believe thailand did have some fighting style of thier own. otherwise how would they kick the khmer ass and destory thier empire while migrating down to create sukhothai kingdom of thier own.

  • yeah i strongly agree. i dont believe khmer invented every martial art. and it doesnt make sense that thai didnt have an art of their own. but the one true fact is that bokator is recorded at angkor wat bt muay thai is not recorded till 500 years later. but i agree that thai had their own art too

  • which one is that called? the one at 0:03

  • o3 is kuntaw the filipino martial art. there are several martial arts odyssey episodes about it

  • @brooklynmonk1 someone told me, that the main influence was Myanmar/Burma when the took over lands, and Myanmar was the most fluenced out of all by the Hindu culture. I like South east culture, would like to visit that region. Maybe u could help me.

  • The thing with most martial arts is that they have a rather sketchy history, and most of the history is by oral tradition, very few martial arts have a recorded history.

  • well thailand today was created around 1200th century. but the thai people are related to the lao and tai tribes that are scatter everywhere because of the mongols. the roots of the tai go back to nanchao kingdom which is yunnan today in china. and there are over 51 tai still in china. there use to be a total of 81 tai tribes. thai is a group of people form up as thais. khmer lao tai....but the real thais who created thailand are the tai. thier recorded was destory by mongols in yunnan

  • Ok cool! my plan is to go back to north america and do a book tour promoting my books and videos and visiting khmer communities and martial arts schools and shooting martial arts odyssey episodes all over USA. so i hope i can visit you guys. but i need people to put me up because i am very very very poor
