@NaturesInstinct These methods can feed a lot of people, and yes nothing short of nuclear warfare would completely destroy an ecosystem, but you're being hindsighted. Look at the broader picture. Poisons will affect more than just fish, also starving a body of water of oxygen affects more than the just fish. It's proposterous to say that those toxins will kill everything. Realize it is habitat destruction that threatens our very own species. I like your stuff, but I show no love for this one.
Fish toxins or fish stupefying plants have historically been used by many hunter gatherer cultures to stun fish, so that the fish become easy to collect by hand. Some of these toxins paralyse fish, others work by reducing oxygen content in water. These toxins wouldn't destroy the whole ecosystem but would only provide one with excessive food that would probably spoil before consumed. This method would best apply when one needs to quickly feed a large group of people or in desperate situations.
Never poison the water, I don't care if you do die. Habitat destruction due to people invading wildlife to survive is leading to the deaths of animals such as the endangered tigers of India. If you have to poison a lake or a river to survive then you have it coming either way.
@phantomcreamer... i certainly appreciate and respect your perceptions and ideologies. take strength.

Are there any other sources for sulfur? Hot springs and volcanoes don't exist in my area. Is there a way to make it from natural sources?
