Oh man, I love how the Beatles outsmarted the press at every turn!

LOL this is really brilliant. It just goes over the interviewer's head that he himself might have some responsibility. The Beatles should have just said "no comment" to the drug questions. But people weren't as media savvy then as they are today. Anybody who would have cared knew they were doing drugs anyway.

Perhaps you misjudge his character. He is a revolutionary via music. They defined the age and had courage to stand up for what they believed was their right to do. Nobody should have a right to command another person what they should or should not put in their body. They only have the right to advise. It is THEIR body such as yours. Would you like it if government said you would be breaking the law for having a drink with friends in a controlled setting? I think not.

You are saying they should have been cowards? They were REVOLUTIONARIES. Those breeds define not adapt. Out of the question.

No point in lying to a journo who probably already knows the answer. Either fess up or let the journo blow the story. Which to choose?

I think McCartney's foolish here. you admit on live television that you've taken drugs and then expect the news reporter not to tell anyone.
