alexander the great was a greek right? i think he concoured more then the romans. just saying, the greeeks arent the best, just wanted to put that out there. what makes a warrior a warrior is what their fighting for. money riches glory spiritual.
Alexander wasn't greek, he was Macedonian you handfucker. and his empire just lasted a few years. roman empire lasted for 5 centuries. :-)) The Romans kicked the Spartans in the butt.
Yeah your talking about Empires and soceitys here dude not indiviual warriors pftttt the average Roman or Mongol against a Spartan would be dead before he could lift his sword. But yeah i dont look up at the spartans for their "empire" lol i look at the Romans for that but for individual Bravery and Strength the Spartan are the men to admire.
The Spartans were great warrriors, period. But that doesn't mean that they fought any battle as they fought the one at Thermopylae. The Spartans did something very particular in history because of the very particular circumstances: the largest army ever assembled, the narrow valley of Thermopylae, the arrogance with which the Persians theratened to attack... Unleashed in the Spartans an exceptional emotional and desperate reaction.
Yeah but you have to respect and admire them even for that one Battle. Leuctra will never be remembered by many because that was a spartan nightmare but thermopylae will be because it was a last stand , a brave thing to do as you know your going to die. But last stands such as thermopylae should and deserve to be remembered as greatly as they are, as the saying goes "The spartans didnt ask for tribute, statues or memorials they asked only you remember that stand at thermopylae.....
