Cats and dogs can be friends.

This is my cat, Kisa, her three kittens (2 weeks old) and my dog, Adara. As you can see Kisa adores Adara and does not mind at all that she is in there.
Kittens and puppies alike, for the first few weeks of life, need stimulation (via licking) to urinate or have a bowel movement; that is what you see my dog doing in the video. She had puppies a year ago and is ready to step up as second mother to these kittens. They even try to nurse on her, much to their disappointment and her confusion.

When I was a boy about 40 yrs ago we had a cat who had a litter of kittens and it was the other way around. The dog had 3 puppies, but they were sold and the day after the kittens had two mothers. When they grew up they had to learn the hard way to be aware of strange dogs though.
