My project takes a twist after thoughts on a front fairing. Im now building a velomobile body and have redesigned and improved the cable drive system.

  • Thanks for the comments, I have done a lot of development work on paper lack of time otherwise. I will stick to rear drive / front steer and hope to be posting new vid soon

  • A way to get more power would be to fabricate pedals to allow pull with one leg while pushing with the other. Don't know how difficult that would be with cable drive. That would also increase frame torque, and possibly hinder extracting the feet quickly. What's the difference in friction with cable drive compared to levers with ball joints? Does the weight savings pay off?

  • @coverturtle the cable idea was one option, hydraulic was my other option using an accumalater .

  • I am going to build one. I think i want to make mine electric as well as peddle.I need to look into this more .I just found out what they were today. And now I have to make one. They are bad ass !

  • @MadMaxNow Good luck let me know how it goes

  • a slow start ! you may need Gears.

the best IMO is to ditch the use of bicycle Gears & add a Linear Drive.

use one-way clutches to the front wheels as Hub's.

& use the rear for Steering. you can get a 3m radius Turning Circle

see my design vid. lots of idea's on this type of vehicle.

haveing Drive directly to the two front wheels is less Friction.

Gears can be added to the Linear Drive. have fun.

  • Nice work. I keep dreaming of a variable ratio hydraulic drive but too many other projects with priority.
