We visited Ocean Way Recording in Los Angeles where Allen Sides showed us a fractional amount of gear in comparison to the mountains of it he's bought and sold throughout the years. Currently, an ITI Equalizer and a custom Neve 88R.

  • @BlackSoulent Is asking that really necessary?

  • i don't understand we some engineers need that much gear i know analog gear makes a good sound but Really that console on its own would be good

  • ONE OF THE CRAZIEST STUDIOS I'VE EVER SEEN =o!!! very nice=)..

  • is all that gear really necessary?

  • @tekis0 I apologize, Im actually talking about the guy that SAID "compressors, limiters, eqs" NOT Mr. Sides. If you were to read what I wrote it would make some sense. Allan Sides is hands down one of the best engineers walking this earth.

  • @dannycurtean

Oh yes he does, homeboy! I worked at Ocean Way 15 years ago and after weeks of cutting electric guitars, Allen Sides came in and said that there was a discrepancy between the two ribbon tweeters in the main monitors. Sure enough, the maintenance staff came in within 5 minutes and were ALL OVER IT. Something was wrong with one of the amplifiers. But he heard it with 1 minute of listening! That guy knows his studio(s) very, very well.

  • ITI EQ wooooaaah that is rare bro !

  • This dude is a serious O.G. the real deal. His name is spoken in the most famous studios in the world. I know its true because I've been there done that. Thanks for posting was fun to watch. Long live ocean way it one of the last greats left.

  • He keeps backing away from his interviewer and the guy keeps chasing him with the mic. The guy knows he's awesome and the interviewer is a kiss-up, what a great combination. i like the snap with nigel godrich at the end. Amazing gear.
