Two old recordings of these great Baroque tracks, played on a Harpsichord.
The two recordings come from a single side of a white-label 78rpm record.

p.s. There is also an excellent version of Froberger's 'Allemande..' on youtube, played on the Lute, which is superbly done, and well worth checking out!

  • Do you know which suite of froberger this is from?

  • I believe it may be from suite in G Minor, as this is what is specified on the Lute version, but otherwise, the label informs only to a minor degree!

  • whos playing this?

  • unfortunately the record doesn't say; there's a longer answer below, although i could send you the mp3 if you like?

    thanks,

    tom

  • who is playing the froberger? is it kenneth gilbert?

  • i'm afraid the record doesn't say; the label is handwritten and neglects to mention the player, which is unfortunate.

However, being a 78rpm record, it's at least pre-1950, and judging from the handwriting, possibly from 1910-1930, although i'm no expert.

I can email you a picture of the label if you like, to see if you can tell anything more from it?

i can send the mp3 as well, if you like!

    thanks,

    tom
