I made this video for a geeky friend in the US who has a thing about trains. I decided not to edit it or add a sound track so as to leave all the ambient sounds you would normally hear on the the DLR. These trains have no driver. Unfortunately the window was rather dirty so you get the view I had. Just after Limehouse I was asked to stop filming by a member of staff on 'security grounds' and after a little explanation and friendly arguing, I was allowed to continue, though there was little point as we were close to Tower Gateway where I would not be allowed to film.

  • Do these trains stop in the middle of its journey?

  • hi lukeraloko, yes they do a lot of stop/start between stations

  • I was living in Greenwich and I took this train everyday, this is a great gretting from london. Thank you for this video ;)

  • You're welcome. I'd love to video more, but DLR staff get very uptight about it. I'll probably shoot some Underground instead.

  • There's nothing geeky about liking trains. the geeks are the people who sit & watch X factor and buy trashy magazines.

  • @HSTCalvin because of the British stupidity if the british stay out of muslim countries then people wont bomb places like england or America!

  • i miss those days. because i had to take this train daily to my work and to my school. thank you mate for posting this video.

  • We were travelling from Prince Regent for excel to Tower Gateway...also on DLR...and it was much faster.xD...and it's like a roller coaster cuz it tends..=D

  • they should make fast services

  • this seems somewhat slow, like slower than the L whose infrastructure is crumbling. is there a reason

  • Yea, station staff these days are so overly jumpy about people filming or taking pictures. Was outside Shoreditch High Street station the other day taking some exterior shots. One of the station staff came running up to me and told me I couldn't take pictures as i needed a permit. I asked why and he said that even HE as station staff couldn't take pictures without permission. I explained that I was still on the public highway and therefore could take pictures of what I wanted; he soon left!!

  • @HSTCalvin Yes you're quite there, it's the fact that many of them seem to enjoy imposing their will on others that gets up my nose.
