  • I took a private tour and most of the right side works. At first I wanted to hear the Grand Ophicleide and it wouldnt play but the Curator got it going. :) The 64 ft pipe works as advertised. They are restoring it bit by bit. They only have a small budget so they have to spread out the work. I got to play both alittle and it was alot of fun. Leaks and tuning are the biggest issues. I thought this was one of the most exciting things Ive seen.

  • @MultiBlue75 leaks and tuning are the biggest issues for the right stage chamber :) Sorry, for the miscommunication. Carl Loeser is the Curator and a very nice guy. The smaller organ is almost completely playable. The console has been refinished and looks spectacular :)

  • @MultiBlue75 Yes I know, I work for Carl on occasion. Been through the whole organ many times, worked on it, and just recently played the Ballroom Kimball.

  • @MultiBlue75 I have some videos of the Ophic. going.

  • Was this video taken recently before it was uploaded? If so, I'm glad to see it is still functional after 1998, after it became unplayable for some time after the recording session

  • @furrypeanut1 It was taken a few months back, some of the organ still plays, nothing in tune at the moment. It's the right side stage chamber you are hearing.

  • I'm praying for the day they have regular concerts there again.

  • It needs tuning, but wow, is it ever good to hear it playing, after all this time!

  • @Tom1980nj that would be nice to hear the Gr Ophic. That is interesting you get to see it and work on it. The Ballroom Kimball organ sounded good and the console was very nicely refinished :)

  • "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"

  • Yikes, the old girl needs some love and attention to bring that much buzz and rattle under control. But after sitting silent for so long, it's good to hear someone at the keys again!

  • I guess, the 64 however is only 8 hertz so it is very lowand its the low deep waves that travel the most, just look at how deep the foghorns are and they can be heard almost 20 miles with a g type though there are only a handful left at all let alone in active service.

  • @manga12 They HAVE said that using the 64' made the fire doors rattle. It also made a racket when an improperly-driven rivet in one of the roof trusses was driven into rotation by the vibrations. It may not be dangerous, but it does have a marked effect.
