A week ago Sunday, Novak was rushed to a hospital after falling ill while visiting his daughter on Cape cod. A day later, Novak released a statement revealing the brain tumor diagnosis--but vowed to continue his work. The 77-year-old told the paper that the immediate plan is to receive radiation and chemotherapy. Just five days before his diagnosis, Novak struck a pedestrian in Washington. He told reporters he didn't see the man. A neuro-oncologist says residents at her hospital are taught to check for brain tumors in patients who report having a recent car accident in which they didn't realize they struck something. Novak had been a columnist for decades and also co-hosted a show on CNN. ___ ___, The Associated Press.
