music with slide show and rusty harmonica.
Stupid Home
So distant. Resistant,
to anything I say.
You won me,
you shun me,
but how's it going to stay?
You had love enough inside,
I know.
If you can help it,
help this stupid home to grow.
So sweetly,
you'd sweep me,
right off of my feet.
Now Thursday's
the worst day,
and it's all on the street.
You had love enough inside, I know.
If you can help it,
help this stupid home to grow.
Stupid carpets, stupid freezer,
stupid neighbors, playing Weezer,
stupid bass amp, dead house plant,
stupid front door, creaking hall floor.
Your footsteps died away at first light.
Bird greets the day and takes flight.
You had love enough inside, I know, I know.
If you can help it,
help this stupid home to grow.
I'm wanting you,
you're haunting me,
with impostors and ringing phones.
You had love enough inside,
I know. I know.
If you can help it,
help this stupid home to grow.
Help this stupid home to grow.
(I wrote this song home alone one Saturday morning on our living room couch. I pictured someone who is close to me and the demise of a relationship they tried to hold on to. But this is a fictional version.)
Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.
