I have been listening to this album regularly since the summer I was nine (1965, so almost forty-seven years now) and I never get tired of it. In fact it sparked a life-long interest in jazz, which has included college courses in the history of jazz and these days the extensive set of jazz artists on my Last.fm jazz tag: last.fm/user/PragueBob/library

Norm Nite classified this song as a Bossanova, but it is really a Somba as you state. Thanks so much for posting, I've tried to find it and the name for several years.

i think charlie byrds solo serves its purpose....

chill song, with a chill solo..
even if he does use the blues scale a lot :P

@saxylarry26 Exactly what I was just about to say! That was a truly horrible mess. The feel is good but no-one seems to know where they are after the initial head of the song. There's always the possibility that it is the ultimate pun and that it really is out of tune!

Always feels like summer's arrived when you hear this tune. Getz was truly a great interpreter of bossa nova and one of the main reasons I discovered Brasil's rich musical heritage.

I almost wore the grooves through on this album. Thank you Brazil for Jobim and Bossa Nova etc. etc.

It was recorded at All Soul's Unitarian Church, Washington, DC

I always come on youtube to look for new compilations of sounds. I never know what I look for, but this is very very close

@saxylarry26 Ya Troll
I had the pleasure of seeing Stan Getz live in Manchester, UK in the fifties, on the same bill as Ella Fitzgerald which I've always considered a unique privilege. Class acts, the pair of them.

so smooth.... like covering the loved one... in ice cream... and then taking all the time in the world to lick it off :-)
