This is a simple demo of the Firstman SQ-01 manufactured by Multivox in 1981. It requires that 2 bars be programmed, so if you were wondering why I repeated the first four notes 8 times you now know why.

As for control, it has 2 filter controls for Cutoff Frequency and Resonance, 2 knobs for Oscillator - Fine and Frequency, and 3 knobs for Sequence Control - Tempo/ Release/Bar (2/4/8/12/16). There is a knob for Sustain and one for Volume. 2 envelopes - Saw and Square and the option for 6/8.

  • nice sound---can you sync it?

  • It can be synced but there is no midi. Options are cv/gate in and out, clock in and out and synchro out. There is also Foot switch in.

  • cool i have one of theese to. had it since i was 10! i control it from my future retro revolution cv/gate, works supernice

    peace

  • Cool. I've been looking at getting a Mobius to do the same. I assume you must really like it to have kept it all these years? Got any tips?

  • I used to have this.Must be very hard to find item by now.Memories of early 80's,,,nice vid.

  • Thanks. Once you get your head around it it a pretty cool machine. I paid a pretty penny for it, but have read of people buying them for under $100.

Something that most don't know is this predates the 303, which was released in 82. The SQ-01 in 81. Some consider it a clone, which is impossible given these facts. ;)
