  • James Casey and Eli Woods performed this legendary sketch on the Royal Variety Show in 1982, with Roy Castle. James Casey and Eli still perform it regularly; most recently they were at the City Varieties Theatre, Leeds, in April 2007.

  • Marvellous, thank you for this information. I must keep an eye out for their next performance.

  • Shame the beginning and end of this clip are missing. This must be one of the greatest sketches ever. The comic timing is razor sharp. I love the way Jimmy James starts off appearing to be the only sensible one and ends up being just as insane as the other two.

  • they do not make them like this any more

  • You can watch this over and over again and it makes you laugh. The timing is spot on, and the drawn out gag about the coffee really gets me. Is it black or wwwwwhite? The coffee, I mean. Priceless.

  • This sketch is up there with the Monty Python Parrot Sketch and the Four Candles sketch by The Two Ronnies - one of the VERY best ever written.

  • that's Roy Castle on the left.

  • Timeless comedy

  • Eli then says " you can get the elephant in the box, you just ask the lion & giraffe to move over a bit"

  • Brilliant! Three amazing performers. Love them.

  • a classic.

  • I was priveliged to actually work with Jim Casey and Eli (whose real name is Jackie Casey, by the way) in 2000 when they did this sketch as part of a variety bill we put together, as part of a festival in Morecambe. The third man in the act was none other than Mike Craig - he was truly wonderful - they all were - and it is one of my true high spots, which I'll never forget. I've also seen them do it at City Varieties, Leeds and the Spa in Scarborough. Hope I get the chance to see it again.

  • This was also re-jigged for the Royal Variety Performance in the 1980's and Eli starred in it - a gem.
