DREAM Act 2009 - An Unfinished Dream

The DREAM Act benefits students who earn at least 2-year degree or youth who enter the military (and serve for 2 years.) who came into this country before they were 16 years old. Many were brought as infants.

The DREAM Act has conditional legal status for 6 years in which they can earn an Associates Degree or serve in the military (2 years) before they start permanent legalization. These are students who have grown up as Americans in every sense. Some don't even know the language of their sending countries.

The sad thing is, you are missing a very key point. Yes illegal immigration happens, yes crap happens to everyone, children brought here by their parents when they had no say in the act, should not be punished for the crime of their parents. if they are USEFUL to our society, willing to study, get a career, work, pay taxes... why can't they have a chance? I just don't get it.

American children should have a chance at being ANYTHING they want to be! ALL American children, born here or not!

There shold be no path to citizenship 4  anyone entering the U.S. illegally. R policy granting citizenship to Anyone Born Here of illegal parents needs to be reexamined. Its outmoded & provides incentive to enter the U.S. illegally.

Election Day results sent a message Americans R -Fed Up with Mexicans. More than 60 Democratic House & four Dem senators, most pro-amnesty, were defeated. Those who kept their seats should be nervous about bucking the trend toward enforcement.

@Yaderita what you say is very true, but the acceptance of the dream act may attract even more illegal immigration. The people who want the dream act to happen are only looking at what this act means for them, but they are not looking at what it means for the unitesd states in the long run...the dream act is very noble but it is not in the best interest of the united states.

The DREAM Act misses the entire point of being an ILLEGAL ALIEN. Illegal does not mean "if you can avoid being deported for five or more years", it means YOU'RE NOT ENTITLED TO BE HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I would like to introduce my own DREAM ACT. I DREAM politicians will begin to stand up for legal, tax-paying, middle class citizens who follow the laws. Deport law breakers and their anchor babies. Stop subsidizing criminal behaviour.

This DRAM ACT is clearly Amnasty, and a road to votes for liberal politicians. The only thing Illegals deserve , is the introduction to a jail cell for the crime they have committed , which is invading our country for starters. Illegals do not deserve to use our sidewalks.They do not deserve to breathe our air, & they sure as heck do not deserve to receive student loans. We need to keep the seats in college open for those who are legally entitled to be here.
