Barrat Homes at Melton Mowbray

A brief report on 3rd May 2008 of the Barrett Homes being built at Doctors Lane, Melton Mowbray. The development is still at an early stage with only a few houses being occupied. The surrounding neighbourhood is quiet, with some existing housing nearby, an even quieter cemetery on the eastern side, while being bordered on the northern and western sides by recreational public open spaces good for children. The estate is situated less than a mile from the town centre, and half A mile from a TESCO superstore open for fuel 24 hours, opposite the cemetery entrance. The site is being jointly developed by David Wilson Homes with mainly smaller 2/3 bedroom properties. The purpose of this visit was to find the Barrett "Woodcote" property - we found one other finished in addition to the Show Home, which was unfortunately closed this weekend. Some concern was raised as to the rear garden arrangements, some of which are oddly shaped and limited in size, and probably with a degree of overlook, given the layout of the houses in what is roughly a circle, facing out. Overall "it'll be nice when it's finished" but that won't be in the next few weeks.

Hi. Just came across this video and I'm glad to see I made the final cut. I'm the runner by the way and I was chasing a teenager who stole my bike. Do you remember seeing a boy with a bike go past you?

Yes I do! I remember we had rehearsed the shot and we were waiting with camera in standby while the background cleared. Several people walked past and I think a bike was in there too, so after several aborted takes, it was almost comical that someone else appeared as well, that's why the camera went with you. I checked my tape & I'm sorry to say I wiped that days shoot after it was edited, I dearly wish I could have shown you the face of the Thieving Bastard, I hope you got your bike back.

It shows the person it was aimed at what the place was like, should he be daft enough to want to live there. Apologies if my documentary camera style lured you into thinking there was a story (well there were several plots - all built on- bom! bom!)Did you notice the spelling mistake in the title? Clue - the builder's name.One day, you'll be able to progress from text messaging to English Language then you'll spot it I'm sure.

This video was made for someone in London who couldn't get up to Melton and wanted to know about this new estate, so he knew what was being said, no one else was meant to. It's just a private video postcard, really.

As for having nothing better to do, we were taking part in the process of buying property for investment, and yes, we were being critical, a few hundred thousand quid of our money was in the frame. So what do you do in your spare time?

DON'T EVER consider buying a Barratt Home - NOT an investment by any means. When I bought my home I understood what everyone has said about what a scandalous rip-off and miserable nightmare it is to buy/live in a Barratt home. I have experienced every aspect of the miserable bullshit hell of Barratt Homes and how the NHBC are set up for them to hide behind. This is another rip-off Britain saga on a long-term legalised scandalous scale. A BARRATT HOUSE IS NOT A HOME!!!
