I live in California and we have seen a large drop in value in our homes. A lot of people ended up with mortgages that were more than the house was worth. Many that had just recently bought a home ended up just walking away from the house vs paying on a home that would not regain the lost value for years if ever.

You seem to be where we were in 2006-7, on the verge of a bubble collapse. Watch the situation in Europe closely. If thing get worse there it will effect China and as a result you!

The sad part is that Australia is a land of gambling and speculating and most importantly greed. It is one of the least ethical countries I have lived in and with very very low moral values.

Dodgy and shoddy overprized houses are just one example. The US has dodgy houses as well but they only cost a third and in Grmany you can get top notch houses (quality, features, environmentally friendly) for half of what they cost in Australia.

One day the bubble will pop...

bust your balls to pay 4 a box on a bit of dirt $450,000-paid of @70 years old.then you die.wondering if its worth it? rent you can move easy,change your job easier...not so stuck in a position where a bank is leaning on you for the payment....most of the payment is interest anyway.
