Now that you brought it up, you do seem much angrier than bin Laden.
Also, given that you spell "maybe" as two words, perhaps you should try to get Mommy & Daddy's money back from that obviously second rate private university.
Well, gotta run and get back to MSNBC--that Keith Olbermann, he really cracks me up!!

Well, I must apologize for clicking the wrong words on the spell check. My AdMin did not have time to go over this all important email. But I do love it when conservatives lose the argument; they change the subject to spelling, ones education, and, of course, Bin laden, which I noticed you forgot. So reply again and point out something irrelevant about him. Oh yea, and I am private university educated, a conservative school as well. May be I should get my money back. Now get back to Fox!!!

Johnson was whatever he needed to do to gain power. His handlers were the big oil companies and large corporations like Brown and Root, Halliburton and other WAR profiteers. He ONLY supported the Great Society because it got him votes and he OPPOSED the Voting Rights Act but signed it again for the votes. Johnson was an OPPORTUNIST like some, even most poltiicians but he was willing to start a war to benefit his supporters. LBJ had the blood of thousands of GIs on his hands. Nixon too.

And so, according to Buffy, do you. By serving in the Navy, you were the "universal soldier" (or sailor); without you, the Nixons & the Johnsons couldn't have carried out their nefarious deeds.Blaming them doesn't absolve you of responsibility, at least according to her. You OK with that?

Sure, since I am NOT Buffy's Universal Soldier and it is just a song. I did what my country asked of me and while I DID contribute to the deaths of thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, by fulfilling my promise and obligation to my country, I am absolved. Furthermore, I have actively been working to prevent such wars from occurring again including ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Eisenhower was RIGHT to warn America of the danger of the Military-Industrialist complex.

I am NOT responsible for what Nixon or Johnson did. When I swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and America is did NOT say what YOU claim. In end, Ms. St. Marie's song is just a song and her views. I support her right to have those views but my oath does not agree with or validate her views. I am no more responsible for what happened than any other citizen & I did NOT vote for either of those men. If I had not served in the Navy, I would have been FORCED to serve in the Army

And I salute your service. I get what Buffy was saying here; however, we live in a complicated world. When she wrote it, I doubt she understood that soldiers and sailors, too, are victims of war. She seemed to hint that she realizes that now in her narration, or perhaps she just understands that bashing soldiers today isn't chic like it was in '68...

I served on the USS Turner Joy, TAD, shortly after it was involved in the Tonkin Gulf incident that LBJ used to officially start the War in Vietnam. NO ONE that I talked to believed they were attacked and Robert McNamara, LBJ and JFK Sec. of Defense confirmed it. It was a LIE told to America to start a war. Sound familiar?
Nixon was elected in 1968 with the promise to end the war but he did the OPPOSITE. It only ended with the fall of Saigon in '75 AFTER Nixon resigned in disgrace.
