  • Thanks for sharing your Layout. I am really like DM & IR. I am not much of a CN fan. Are the locomotives SD units? Also the curves in the video 18" or 22" radius?

    Thanks,

  • @greenwaterhose - The locomotives are Athearn RTR SD38s. The curves seen in this telephoto shot are between 36" and 44" radius.

  • That was a great shot! Was this N or HO?

  • @UnionPacificRules HO Scale.

  • great train with great music who made the ore cars

  • Thank you, all 64 DMIR ore car '4-packs' are produced by Walthers. - CSL

  • First video of yours that I've seen but long time railfan. Perfect pairing of the music with the video. I really like modeling on realistic terms and the length of that train was dead on :) Great work!

  • if these ore cars are for sale ill buy them!

  • Does this layout have ore docks? I would love to see those.

  • 1 problem they shoudnt be dmir engines they should be CN

  • @JIMBOSKI58 You would be correct. The spacing of the pockets on the ore docks accomodates the length of the individual cars. They were originally so short because that's all the wooden cars could handle. I'm sure modern cars could be built longer, but the docks already exist. If you look at some of the other lines (Erie Mining, North Shore Mining) you will see that they run much longer cars. The LTV/Errie Mining trains were really cool. Read up if you're interested in their line and docks.

  • @theexperience03 Appreciate your response!! Interesting 4 car arrangements. I surmise that the ore unloading docks are measured to accomodate.

  • @JIMBOSKI58 You probably lost interest or already found your answer, but the orange bars signify the ends of the "quads." The DM&IR has the cars semi-permanently mounted in groups of 4 with drawbars coupling them and has for as long as I can remember seeing the trains go by.

  • There was a vertical orange streak every 4th car, what was it???? How did you keep the rolling stock from wabbling??? Completing my Kaiser Steel/Southern Pacific train consisting of 26' Hi-Side ore cars being hauled by U28-U33C diesels. No space for a layout so will display them on three 12" x 8' shelfs. Good job!!!
