@nonskids Actually, the males will begin practicing their singing before they take on adult coloration. If you get one making weird gurbling sounds, it's probably a male learning how to sing.

Oh man you held them when they were babies? Do they let you touch them now? I never did that with my first clutch cuz i read they will imprint you as a mother and will get obsessed with you and wont like when your away

hehe!
My baby zebra fiches looked like all females and then they began to grow the orange feathers and the male coloring, after about two weeks.

I have to say that, that question is a first. My guess is "no", In fact some of the seed I feed them is red and they tend to pick those out first.
