On August 14, 2003, New York City experienced one of the largest blackouts in history. This is the scene from my apartment in the East Village. My friends and I did the only thing we knew how to deal: we drank, sang and explored. Part one of six.

  • @Modernprankz The power is out, not the telephone. The phone is not connected the the house power supply. How would you call the power company to tell them you don't have power if the phone didn't work?

  • @thefinalfrontier1701 Just to let you know what would not have been possible without our "tribe". The Apollo missions could not have happened without a type of algebra invented in 1843 by William Rowan Hamilton, We changed the face of modern warfare. by inventing the first successful submarine. Large-scale electricity power stations would not be possible, without the steam turbine invented by Charles Parsons in the 1880s, and still used in power stations around the world.

  • @boy1er1990 recent aftermath of terrorist attacks loses all contact with the world? How do they know this isn't a national attack? People are hired by others by what is called a job. And know, we don't carry water back to our tribe. The work ranges from providing people with fresh fruit and vegetables to high tech jobs which power America's infrastructure. You of course, don't have to worry about this because your to busy working with your primitive tribesmen.

  • @boy1er1990 That's because we don't live in huts like your tribe does. We have something called nuclear waste here. It's spent fuel that will overheat and meltdown if it's temperature is not cooled. How is it cooled? Well idiot, by electricity. What happens when the power goes out? Diesel generators provide power for the fuel. Also, what do you think happens when all the traffic lights in a city of millions gos down?
