Gumby - A Tale of Two "Robot Rumpus"es

Some of you may remember how in the late 1980s as part of the "Gumby Adventures" TV series, they went back and redubbed all the late 1950s and 1960s Gumby cartoons, replacing the original dialogue with new re-recordings by the then-current voice cast (which included a few veteran voice actors such as the late Dallas McKennon as Gumby and Art Clokey as Pokey), and replaced the old Capitol Hi-Q stock music cues with new synthesizer music. The results were, in most cases, jarring and uneven. So I present to you the classic public domain Gumby short "Robot Rumpus," with both soundtracks playing at once so you can hear the difference!

Gumby's voice, even though it is the same actor voicing him sounds very similar or the same in both sound tracks.

Actually it is two different voice actors; Ruth Eggleston (I think) in the 1956 version, and Dallas McKennon in the 1988 version.

I have very bad news. Art Clokey, the creator of Gumby died just three days ago (as of January 11, 2010) at the age of 89.
