The plot isnt that hard to figure out. Its a lesbian murder suicide. The first part, with "Betty and Rita" is all in Diane's head, a fantasy world she created because she couldnt face the guilt of what she had done to her true love.

I watched this movie at least 30 times in a row and, with a bit of research on the internet finally worked out the plot, then I cried like a baby for 6 hours straight. After seeing the ORIGINAL Star Wars as a 11 year old child I think as an adult this is the greatest movie ever made period!
