A Christchurch family believe they saw a convoy of UFOs travelling above their house -- and say they've got the pictures to prove it.
It comes a day after secret documents of UFO sightings were released by the New Zealand Defence Force.
Caught on video is what is thought to be one of 10 UFOs travelling in a convoy above the streets of Christchurch.
Jeannine Mander spotted the series of lights moving in the sky above her house last Wednesday, at 10pm.
"Bright, bright orange lights, with a flicker in them," she explains.
She wasn't the only one to see the UFO, with neighbours and family watching on the deck.
"I believe there is something out there. We are here, so there is something out there. We can't be the only living form," says Ms Mander.
The NZDF released over 2000 secret documents on UFO sightings over the last 70 years.
Ms Mander says what she saw was very similar to that which was recorded in Kaikoura in 1978.

  • god that skeptic woman is a mong, i always see her fat face on tv talking crap

  • @MrHallucinario She is so full of shit. They claim to be open people and "scientific" but she would still claim it was special effects or a "trick of the light" if a craft landed on her broad arse and gave her radiation burns. Skeptics are so committed to their position that nothing will ever satisfy and they will all go to their graves in denial. The woman saw 10 objects progress across her vista and the first thing this skeptic says is it could have been the moon. What planet is she on?

  • how right you are ....... we aint the only living beings on this universe, i agree with that .

  • @yodasodaskoda Wow. i agree with you! she is a sound bit but you can't blame her for that completely, thats what happens in the editing room.if you can come up with a logical response like that, why make ad-hominem attacks at an individual that i would bet, would agree with your explanation. Remember logic doesn't sell news, sensationalism does, Aliens do. .

  • @joshowen88 Lanterns maybe...due to the number of lights and the way they drifted across her vision at a controlled speed(suggesting wind propulsion)...that's a more logical explanation...sure, people like Lanterns for spiritual/aesthetic reasons but some light them to bait ufologists. Who knows? Certainly not Vicki Hyde, the troll under the bridge. Her conviction isn't "scientific". She's a media sound-bite.

Btw the report on this wasn't balanced either. It was more pro-extraterresttrial.

  • @yodasodaskoda her list is an example, not an explanation. she is listing commonly mis-interpreted objects in the sky and that just because we don't know what this is, doesn't mean its alien , tell me what you think this is?

  • @joshowen88 Her list was all singular. 10 objects were seen - unlikely to be "moons" or planes. She is head of her ilk for all of NZ, whereas I only commented on a total lack or reason and logic by a woman who is always lightening quick to expound them. She is an automaton, her robotic responses are rigid, despite her fair-minded pose. So you should worship me you pissant - I am your superior in every way. Tell the squirrel in your head to peddle faster.

  • @WaryHori do you have any knowledge of the atmosphere . i would bet not. do you know anyone who does, again i would bet not. there is still so many little things in our atmosphere that can produces interesting things that it is an exciting science to be in at present. stop wasting your time being rude and study it. think how cool it would be if you could work out what this is. you could discover an entirely new phenomena

  • @yodasodaskoda it seems that your committed to your position much more then she. she listed a small list examples and you make this comment. Skeptics talk of possibilities and you calm knowledge. What do you think it is oh mighty yoda? with your wealth of knowledge of the unknowable you could teach me so much. take science and bin it because the great yodasodaskoda is here.

  • NZ "Skeptics Society" can fuck off

  • not to sure but i seen something similare to this thing in the sky in gisborne about two and a half mabee three weeks ago it was red and looked like there may have been mabee two other lites on it sort of flikering or revolving around it not to sure! it was about 1 in the morning and i was tired and i was only out side geting some fire wood!was moveing sortof sporaticly up down left rite but it stayed und er the cloud cover the whole time!dont know what it was took of ater 5mins or so!!!

  • i seen one the same in Cambridge

  • obviously she has never seen one, i have been burnt by something hovering over me at night , fishing from a dinghy, 60 to 100 people witnessed it, as i heard the stories coming from different strangers, as well as over hearing the event. short sightedness comes from ignorance

  • fkn you're an unidentified atmospheric phenomenon lady, how the hell do u know what it is?I've seen the same thing a convoy of the same lights over melbourne back in 09 and niot just me either alot of people did.

  • My sons and I saw two or three UFOs like this one - (I say two or three because I saw three and my sons could only see two) in Dunedin in Aug or Sept 2008. I tried to report it at the time but nobody wanted to know.

The objects were very close together.

  • @JohnfronNZ Venus is called the morning star, as its in the sky in the morning did your Dicktionary not tell you that

  • why has NZ released ufo secret files after all these years??...as well as other main countries around the world. Looking at this video, it's definately not a plane....

The lady on NZ Skeptics society...does she even think it might actually be UFOs other than a plane, the moon etc....

  • it's just a bunch of creepy christchurch bitches again, creeps!

  • i remember watching tele in 1978 and a tv reporter was talking to the camera and the ufo was in the background.

  • Chinese lantern

  • neighbours watching on the dick?...lol....yeah...I know I know...she said deck. :D

  • There is only one object in the video (where are the other nine?). If you want to identify this "UFO" grab a dictionary and look up "Venus" - mystery solved. :-)
