This video was created to commemorate the first birthday of Kalina (aka "Baby Shamu"), the first killer whale to be successfully born in captivity.
The song is "This Island Earth" by The Nylons, who actually performed it live on the night of the birthday event. They even changed the words slightly to "This Baby Whale".
Sadly, Kalina passed away recently so perhaps this video can stand as a memorial and a reminder of the joy and wonder she brought to millions of people.

This really is one of the best videos ever, after reading how it was edited...wow...is all i can say... i love this video! i know so many get so upset over the captivity debate. we learned so much for captive creatures, but a pool will never be an ocean. For whatever it is worth, my life was enrich by SeaWorld... although I loved the park much more 25 years ago then i do now. SeaWorld has really changed through the years. Thank you so much for sharing your special video. it is a favorite. =)

@Kaliamammamia hi, sometimes i hate my own species... as what gives humans the right to take an intelligent creature and put him or her on display for enjoyment, yet... then I think of my most special life memories- was befriending captive dolphins. I can really see both sides of the coin (I don't mean to sound hypercritical)... I hate when anything dies, especially the young. I just hope and pray life goes on, and the wonderful soul that is Kalina feels all the love of everyone she touched.

@peepchick101 I too, think about things like that...and it makes me sad, very sad.

There's always a "what if" in anything, ever think that the "if" would be a bad thing? Why would Kalina find it sad? She didn't even know what the ocean was. Kalina seemed like an extremely happy whale and was a favorite by many of the trainers because she was such a sweet whale. It's inconsiderate of you to turn this abrupt death into something anti captivity related, It's pretty sad.
