Amy Danielson of The Gypsy Kiss shows you how to get hair ornaments to STAY in your hair - even if you have baby fine, silky straight hair - through every backbend, spin, pop and lock. About the only thing you can't pull off this way is zars.

Mainly for tribal fusion and cabaret belly dancers, this tutorial will also work for most other performance artists. Don't be afraid of flowers any more! ;) - Bloom!

  • Awesome! I love the Mucha-style headdress idea. I've been struggling with that for years. Thanks so much! RB

  • Rachel, I got the inspiration for that piece from you - just replaced roses with peacock. But yours were placed using quills, I think? Either way, you always look beautiful!

  • Ugh....rude comments? Why?! It's not like you were bashing on her, geez ;) great tutorial!

  • Thanks! No - I would NEVER bash on her - she rocks my world!

  • thanks very much for the hair ornament tip, im gonna chek out your page....take care!!

  • My hair is waaay more fine than yours. If I were to brush over all my hair to one side, it would probably be the equivalent of one section of your hair...lol! This will be interesting to try as I'm highly unskilled in doing anything with hair. I throw my hair up in a pony tail and pat myself on the back if I have very few bumps, lol.

  • @velvetsnape - LOL -- oh, yes, I know TOTALLY what you are saying! Yup, same with the "few bumps" even with a silly ponytail. Wow, didn't realize other people had as much problem with hair as I do... tho, dang, it just isn't fair when see other folks with lovely tresses and decorations ... sigh ... Good luck to both of us! :-) PEACE....

  • I'm a fan / friend of 'Bearbait" on feebay, and have tons of her goodies to make into other items. Just seeing your etsy page is a fantastic inspiration for ideas :-) Tho, think it would take a couple of years (!!) to make anything remotely as fabulous :-) TY for this vid - I, too, have thin, straight, fine hair ... and I haven't met a clip that'll stay in my hair. I'll give this a try- thanks! Namaste.... PEACE....

  • I absolutely LOVE the hair circlet you made in this video.... any chance you will make more like this? I would love to buy it. I saw on your etsy site that you only had 1, but I definitely hope you make more, they are gorgeous!

  • @chroniclesofhensley I have been dancing belly dance for 6 years, since I was 10. I fell in love with it. The idea that someone would put it in the same league as stripping disgusts me. You have no understanding of what Bellydance is. It is a skill, just like ballet or tap. It is incredibly difficult to do well, and is based on isolations and representing the music through movement. It is NOT stripping. And it's people like you that make this world shit, judging things that you dont understand.

  • @hazardmuffin Nice try, but there isn't any use in responding to this type of person. You won't convince them. It's called mental illness.

  • @chroniclesofhensley Belly dance has nothing to do with stripping. It's a form of creative expression in the form of movement. There's nothing inherently sexual about it. It's your own (misinformed) perception that makes it so.

  • What a fucking joke this woman is. Belly dancing is nothing more than stripping with tacky shit hanging from your arms and waist. I can't understand for the life of me why women would want to subject themselves to this shit. This is nothing to be proud of. What a shitty world we live in.

  • Very Helpful AMY!

    Mahalo from Hawaii:)

  • Brilliant tip thanks so much for that! :)
