TTGVP Presents...

The last latex sprayer on the CP before reaching Port sits East of Notch Hill on the Shuswap Sub. Watch as it does what it does best to this WB CP Coal train.

The latex creates a coat over the coal and keep the dust down while it travels to the port.

  • @RailFanJon As far as I know majority of US railway company have most of there DPU engine as its last engine. And CN & CP is the only company I seen with many DPU engine in midways between its load. But mention to the gradient of 2.2% I think in the US there is this location call the Cajon Pass which have the same gradient as Notch Hill as you mention, which BNSF and UP coal freight doesnt use DPU in the mid-section of there loads, instead they have there DPU engine as its last pusher.

  • @PhantomDark21 Its actually a polymer foam sprayer not laytex. it keeps the coal dust down while it travels to port and as for your question to those 2 engines: they need to be in the middle so that they are not too far from the front end so that the tran can actually get up the 2.2% grade with al that loaded coal weighing hundreds of thousands of tons. Notch Hill is a beast lol It takes one of these trains close to an hour or less to get up through here

  • What does the latax sprayer do? And this is totally new why was there 2 engine doing in between those coal gondolas? Arnt suppose to be in the back as a back engine?

  • I have watched this before on different occasions but just noticed the video is cut at 1:50 so perfectly you really have to be paying attention to notice! lol

  • @Skiier1000 Its actually not latex man its a polymer binding coal agent and it is used for dust contorl while it travels to the port in vancuover

  • Remarkable. Excellent video

  • @theGUYwho1 that actually has happened before lol also check out my video at this location of a coal train going under the sprayer to

  • Nice video, and nice view of an interesting operation.

  • what is the latex used for?

  • i went there once on my way to salmon arm to see shushup rails 2010
