This is 'Part 1' of the TV documentary "Paganini's Daemon : A Most Enduring Legend", which gives a great insight into the life of legendary violinist 'Nicolo Paganini'.
I originally recorded this from 'The Performance channel', not long after the channel started up, though i've never seen it on TV since, which is a shame. It's also a shame this isn't available to buy on DVD.

I originally posted this documentary here on YouTube a few years ago, but have since opened several different accounts for different types of video, and decided to post it on this account just for documentary videos.

I have also posted this documentary in full on Google video, here : http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=7115856528082343477#

  • This is the first documentary I saw on youtube about 3 years ago...and Id watch it over and over...then one day it was taken down.... I wept....

I dont have to weep no longer.... =)

    Thanks for uploading.

  • @avalino79

    Thanks for the "thanks".

It was me who first uploaded it back then, on my old account "willjay". When that account went down i decided to split my videos into several different 'themed' accounts, rather than all on the same account.

I also uploaded this full documentary as one nonstop video on Google Video (the link is in the Info section).

  • What's amazing to me is this... (it is so simple, yet so perplexing and baffling), no amplification. They could fill small to semi-large amphitheaters with people and they could clearly hear these instruments in the back row, as well and as clearly as they could in the front row.

It is Paganini's 24th caprice. Search Hilary Hahn's version.

  • what is the first concerto. i will pay 100$ Paypal for it no joke. ryan5439 @ yahoo

  • A pity that Kremer was the violinist used for the sound bits...

  • "But destiny had other things for Paganini, and the road turned out to be hard and painful..." due to his ill health, isolation, and other "subtler wounds," such as his pursuit of glory and money, which robbed him of everything else...

LOL, why is it so vague? It's like the narrator was reciting a poem all this time, and after 10 minutes I've barely learned anything concrete about Paganini.

    Ohh.. Demon.

  • @musicindisguise it's a daemon because the music cost him so much... it drove him... was his only reason for existance... it cost him so much pain but yet he had to continue playing... if a force has so much power over you it is possible to call it a daemon

  • @musicindisguise 3:57 look the vid
