The sharpshooters on the cliff were using " Peabody Martini Long Range Creed moor Rifle"s....and guess what..google this rifle ...there's an original,up for sale..in calibre 44/100 at 19thcenturyweapons (14 photos) & reads > overall ex_plus condition extremely scarce 1000 yard rifle in "to die for " condition ...$15,000 ........check out the photos.. beautiful rifle.

THP was widely reviled by the critics when it was released in 1971. After a series of violent films released that year they got fed up with all the blood and guts and retrenched to a comfortable "morally responsible" position, although it's not hard to see why they were so repulsed. After almost 40 years this is still a shockingly brutal movie. There is no attempt to hide anything, everything is in your face. It does make a good double bill with the other Bergen western, Soldier Blue, though.
