this was the first song I heard by the Downliners.. Amazing. and I never realized the Lou Reed/Pickwick connection. They blow this version to bits it sounds like they hit
upon quite the formula with this..Amazing crisp recording. Thanks for posting.

on the serio side downliner sect where before lou reed ....but i dont think theyre goin for the same sound....downliners sect = 60's r&b and garage...lou reed and velvet underground = early rocknroll and a bit of simple shit.

@stOOpid68 Well, in the late 70s the Sect put out a punk album under the false name 'FU2'.

Don't mean to get technical, but Lou Reed and John Cale weren't in the All Night Workers, they only co-wrote the song.

It's ironic that this would sound so much like the Velvet Underground, including a vocal that sounds like Lou Reed, when Reed's own recording sounds like the Righteous Brothers. Do you think that when Reed heard this, he thought, "wow, they really messed up my song. "

The Sect are the coolest...all-red-dee!!
The original by Lou Reed's All Night Workers is also great but doesn't have the great Fuzz like this version does.
