A full duration orbit insertion firing of the the Falcon 9 second stage, at the SpaceX Test Facility in McGregor, Texas. In flight, the engine will include a large expansion nozzle which increases the its performance in the vacuum of space.

  • I think space flight would probably be a lot cheaper and a lot more reliable if we kicked all of the NASA clowns making $300,000 year out and brought in some of the extremely talented people who work regular jobs and are geniuses.

  • So....i wanna know....is that the full duration that the orbiter needs to get into orbit or just the maximum duration of testing the engine ?

  • The amount of testing they put into this engine was remarkable. Makes you wonder if they could really build a Merlin 2 in Musk's lifetime.
