I found an old hatchet head without a handle. This is how I make handles for tools. Now I have a usefull tool, for my backpack, or B.O.B.

  • shingling hatchet. what you got.

    real nice.

the wood looks like cedar,i.e. Juniper, not so good. Juniper splits too easily

try a hard wood, Redbud, Hickory, Oak,Hard Maple.

    cherish the family, all good

    thanks man

    buzz

    glad you posted.

  • It's kinda square... I think it would look better if you ran a draw knife over the edges a bit. Other than the blocky look, nice :)

  • @jjaayypp963 your welcome.....

  • Great job. It looks really nice.

  • @kcbigjoe Yep, I would like to know how old it is, also. ECP commented, and said this was on old roofing hatchet. Probably used for wood shingles, at my best guess. But it has found a new home now! Thanks...

  • @EastCoastPrepper Thanks for the info on my hatchet. It's nice to know.
