Don't mess with snappers, especially when they're out of the water. They're MUCH more aggressive on land.

Those things are badass! When I was a kid I saw one that had gotten on somebody's yard get shot several times with a .22 and still was trying to bite!

I grew up in the rural South. These things can easily chomp off two fingers in a single bite. Everyone who gets bit is trying to pick up the turtle. The fatal move usually involves trying to grab the tail. The turtle can, and will spin himself 180 degrees in mere milliseconds, and where you once had a tail at your hand, you now have a turtle's mouth. The turtles can also stretch their necks nearly the full length of their shells. This guy was very lucky not to lose a couple fingers.

He gets a hold of your fingers he'll fix ya LOL
They dont have teeth but they do have a very powerful beak. It would of taken a nice chunk of meat off my hand if he got me. My pond is loaded with them and Ive seen them bite fish in half.

Trust me, MY ponds are literally full of snapping turtles. This one is only a medium sized one, I've seem them easily twice the size as this one. By some of your responses I think a few of you pansies never set foot outside a megacity before.
