A little tour of the Barnes & Noble at Austin Street (ride up the escalators), as well as a trip on the cruddy Schindler they have.

Brand: Schindler
Installed: Late 90's
Machine: In Ground Hydraulic
Floors Served: *1, 2 (2)
Fixtures: MT
Fear/DT Index: Medium. Door rattles, slow, poorly lit cab.

  • lol, that would be funny if they forgot what wires connected to what buttons. Most of the time Schindler is used for a low-rise elevator simply because they're cheap. Them and ThyssenKrupp. Only high-end places will use an Otis or Kone in a low-rise building.

  • That would be an epic fail if the door close button stopped the elevator, and the Stop buttons closed the door! Unfortunately, people don't treat Schindler that well, so they tend to run down very easily. It's also the cheap parts, but mainly lack of maintenance and abuse.
