Ambassador Michael C. Polt arrived to Estonia on December 7, 2009. The U.S. Senate officially confirmed him as the next U.S. Ambassador to Estonia on November 20th and he was sworn in by Secretary of State Clinton on November 30th. Ambassador Polt will present his credentials to President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in the near future.
Ambassador Polt arrived to Lennart Meri Tallinn International Airport and received a warm greeting by members of the Embassy staff. Ambassador Polt then addressed members of the Estonian print and broadcast media, with representatives from most all major outlets in attendance.
The Ambassador stated, "I look forward to enhancing the already close cooperation that exists between our two nations and building on new common approaches for tomorrow," and then concluded with remarks delivered in Estonian.
