Beginning with her rescue from a roadside shelter in Nevada, to the day her emotional reunion with Shirley was captured in the PBS Nature documentary "Urban Elephant," Jenny's story helped open the world's eyes to the deep, emotional bonds that all elephants share--and their extraordinary capacity for forgiveness. Jenny never wasted a day sulking about her abusive past. Her enthusiasm for life and adventure was contagious, and although her time on this earth was brief, we will continue to celebrate Jenny's spirit every day.

Footnote: As you might imagine, Shirley was deeply grieved after losing Jenny, but we are happy to report that in the year following her passing, Shirley and Bunny have formed a much closer bond and now go everywhere together.
Update: Bunny is now passed on, but Shirley has developed a friendly relationship with Tarra.

  • 2:14- Is that jenny as a baby in the foreground?

  • @veggiewarriors Jenny is full grown there--she was 27 when she retired to the Sanctuary. Although she would often act like her baby when she was with Shirley!

  • What a wonderful video of Jenny. I cry when I watch it. I'm glad Jenny got her freedom at TES and found her Shirley so she could be spoiled like a daughter should. So sad that her life ended so early. We need to speak up for elephants and end the zoo and circus life--they deserve freedom!

  • Hard to say for somebody, who can't express his feelings in foreign language, but it' s wonderful, very touchant, full of hope, but also sad when you think how, some people can be cruel for children of nature
