Van Cliburn plays Kabalevsky's Rondo in A Minor Op 59 which was composed for the 1958 Tchaikovsky Competition. This was recorded during the Finale of the competition.
Incredible. I did not realize Kabalevskiy could write like this... Also, fuck you if you pay attention to the mistakes. It sort of means you missed the musical part of the piece, in which case you need to re-listen.
@paulprocopolis Hurray for the wrong notes! You on the other hand, aren't paying attention to what is utmost in this performance - the music and Cliburn's feeling of it and his delivery. Don't be petty and immature and lastly, don't be dogmatic. Chillax and enjoy!
Kabalevsky really pushed out the romantic/virtuoso boat for this competition piece - here played with great bravura (and a few wrong notes) by Van Cliburn!
Wow, what an amazing piece and great performance by the wonderful artist!!

@tuberobotto How odd that my complimentary remark about the music and Van Cliburn's peformance of it has been read as a criticism ...
