Left/Righ Location and Channel Separation
LQ STEREO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkB2E_w4FUs
HQ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF-ljYjOciM&fmt=18

[1] 1KHz 0dB Left 0:20
[2] 1KHz 0dB Right 0:20

These tests offer: [1] a pure 1,000Hz sine wave on left channel; [2] the same signal on right channel. If your system is correctly connected, you will hear first, only your left loudspeaker, then only the right loudspeaker. If not switch off your system and check the connections. If the balance control is in the center (normal) position, and if you are at a normal listening distance, you must hear nothing from your other loudspeaker (DO NOT INCREASE VOLUME LEVEL). If you hear something, that means a component of your system is mixing channels (the soundblaster, probably, the amplifier too). In a laboratory, you can verify manufacturer specification about channel separation (good values are above 60dB) (not-professional more expensive soundblasters will fail this test).

Video: 320x240 MPEG-2 2Mbps CBR

  • Add &fmt=18 to the end of the web address or click the link(s) in more info. Anyway, this video has been uploaded before YT introduced the HQ and HD videos, so I will upload a better version when I get a chance.
