Awesome. This is exceedingly helpful. Thanks.

I really appreciate the tutorial man! @jessegilbertfilms sent me here.

@theDANGshow Hahaha, well it can't harm but you can aleave that bit out :)

Oh this is much easier than my methode. I use two scripts, one to slice up the video and an other to offset the layers. But you end up with a lot of layers that way.
Thanks for this!!

Why would you put the Time Displacement effect on the Gray Solid also? That is totally unnecessary.

good tutorial, however i find those strips kinda annoying and i wonder if you know how can you make the effect smooth like in this clip /watch?v=i9LOFXwPwC4

@ciucinciu i'm pretty sure if you increase the max displacement time , the smother it gets , but it also takes longer to render if I remember right.

Can i just ask how long your video took to render? I tried it but it told me it was going to take 80 hours...

@thefoxaesthetic =/ hmmm , duno why that happened, I made mine on my imac using AE cs5 an took just under an hour to render if i remember right , I think maybe the more you mess around with the time displacement amount the longer it may take.
