We Gather Together To Ask The LORD'S Blessing - Hymn Tune: Kremser.

This beautiful hymn is a Netherlands Folk Hymn ( Nederlandtsch Gedenckelanck ), often sung during the Thanksgiving season but I used to like to play it a few times throughout the year. I use the Chimes on the 2nd Verse, a nice Full Registration ( Swell to Great ) on the 3rd and a Key Elevation on the last Verse.

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known; The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing, Sing praises to His name: He forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine, So from the beginning the fight we were winning; Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant, And pray that thou still our defender wilt be. Let thy congregation escape tribulation; Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing; He chastens and hastens His will to make known; The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing, Sing praises to His name: He forgets not his own.

** Please go to my video of the Hymn Tune ' Claudius ' We Plow The Fields and Scatter, a beautiful and majestic Hymn.

** Please use your headphones when listening to my video's - it makes a big differance for the spatial separation.

Thank you for visiting and may YOU have a BLESSED Day - GOD is GOOD !

  • Sir, I have been listening and watching you play since I came upon your site a few days ago. I would really like to get back to playing. However, at risk of sounding dumb, could you please briefly explain what an "elevation" means and consists of? Thank you and keep up the good work.

  • I hope you get back to playing, there's nothing more rewarding than music... an elevation is just going from one key to another and raising the key signature.

  • What kind of organ is that? Allen, Rodgers, Hammond?

  • A VISCOUNT made in Italy, more info on my profile page.

  • Just wonderfull! Many thanks. Could you possibly post 'Joy to the World' and/or 'Angels we have heard on high'? All the best to you and yours for a very happy and prosperous Holiday Season!

  • Very marvelous video! What is a shame is that a lot of the churches are getting away from such classic hymns such as these! I love how that third verse sounds! This has always been one of my favorite hymns and always will be!

  • This is beautiful. I first learned this song in a stage production I did in 2008 and 2009, two consecutive years in a row, and the moment I heard it, I fell in love with it. The lyrics are so true and when you sing it, you give your whole heart to HIM in song. Thank you so much for posting. Lovely work

  • Your opinion is shared by many on here, including me.

  • Very beautiful prayer this song is.

  • This is the type of music my church does..we are a very old fasioned church

  • Amen ....

  • Remember the good old days when you would hear this every year at Thanksgiving in church? Now we hear praise choruses that, while not inherently bad, are musically inferior to music like this. Well, in my opinion anyway. This is a great arrangement and a beautiful performance!

  • Thanks - this tune uses many hymn names, the Hymn Book I used for this performance is as described. Thank you for visiting. Lance †
