A clip of me playing through my modded Valve Junior, in triode mode. I'm driving the front of the amp with an Orange Squeezer and have the volume on the amp at max.

Youtube won't let me comment on any of my previous posts, so here are my mods:
R1 = 1Meg
R2 = 22k
R6 = 470k
R9 = 1.5k
R10 = 1.2k 5w
R14 = 240
C1, C2 = .047uf Sozo mustards
C4 = 1uf non-polarized metal film
C5 = 47uf

Also, replaced the OT with a Hammond 125DSE
12ax7 is an Ei Silver Bullet ECC83
EL84 is a JJ/Tesla

Gain reduction switch that switches a 100k in parallel with stock 1Meg R7 making R7's value about 92k.

Pentode/Triode switch with 1k screen resistor.

All switches installed on the back of the amp except for a standby switch on the front panel.

  • how do i fit a Pentode/Triode switch ???

  • you just can not beat the epiphone valve jr amp. no way! they kick and for 130 to150 bucks. man there is no other tube amp out there for that kind of bucks.. this amp is for real guitar players. like the guy who post this video. and it is a 10 + video.

  • that tone is awesome

  • do you have a schematic for the pentode/triode switch?

  • yup. that's some good saturation alright. the lil valve jr sounds great!

  • that hammond ot makes a hell of a difference. i am hopefully getting one of these with a hammond and a tonestack added too plus all the usual mods. gets a bit pricey but still more amp for our buck than anything else...

  • Hehe, no matter what you do with these amp heads or combos they don't really change sound much. Still got their own type of grunt because of the output trafo. Most noticeable difference is when you change preamp tube to another brand. I've tried it all with this amp but it's still the same 'ol grunt eccept now brighter with another tube. Fun amps for sure I like them for garage rock.

  • i dont know how to explain it

    butit just sounds too whiney

    meh i cant explain hah

  • Hmmm...don't care for the tone at all. Playing is decent.
