Why was he so obsessed with dripping sounds?? It almost becomes annoyingly predictable as much as I adore him, it's like I can expect to hear it on every film of his!

2:17 composition of this shot is unbelievable

Actually Yimou's Raise the Red Lantern is an all-time masterpiece :)

Watching segments one can get a lot.I've owned these films for a # of years and never watch completely or become to disenchanted to take it allin. I have Mirror on videotape .NowI want to re-look. These films have a lot to offer and say everything a picture can. Is there a narrative worth following? we'll see.

Go back to film school, dude

Dude, please don't compare handy and pretensional craftman Yimou with a great artist like Tarkovsky. It's really kinda disgrace to A.T. to include them both in the same sentence.

"Every person is a stage-director of his own dreams" says Schopengauer. Who can tell it like Tarkovsky? His films are mirrors of eternal present shrouded with grey mystery. The greatest mystic of cinema!

Que increíble la concepcion del tiempo que maneja Tarkovsky
-
yeah someone did recognize some similarity
and it's called "sculpting (in) time"
-
wow, who knew that someone else could recognise Zhang Yimou's "Hero"
Like James Joyce, Andrei Tarkovsky will be known forever because every one of his films is a masterpiece...and yet, you wish there was 1 more ...
