Hi Peter, I was hoping for some advice. I got into a accident on my brompton and a lot of the parts have to be changed. I'm trying to have the repairs done as economically as possible. One of the parts that needs fixing is my rear rack, it is completely bent including the stays. would converting it from an R bike to L bike be cheaper or should I ask my mechanic to leave it as a an R bike? I don't find the brompton rack to useful for my needs so i use a Xootr cross-rack.

@jamesallan7005 Well the parts for an L bike (rear fender blade/stays) are less expensive than the parts for an R bike (rear rack/fenderblade/stays). So if the mechanic is working on it anyway it may be cheaper to rebuild it as an L bike rather than an R if all those parts need to be replaced. @phenochio Well, truth be told the Brompton is the closest to my heart. The Brompton folds smaller and faster and comes with the Made In England stamp of quality. I've ridden my M6L over 3000 miles since I got it last May and it is still riding beautifully. I commute on it daily and have put in rides up to 150 miles in one sitting with 100% satisfaction. It's not that Dahons are bad, the Brompton is just the best. - Peter
