Isn't more likely he is familiar with Kelly's work and influenced by it? And why is that a problem, exactly?

The first responder's theory on a "system of sovereignty" as opposed to "imperialism" says something very close (almost verbatim) to what a professor of anthropology at the Univesity of Chicago (John D. Kelly) writes on how the use of the term "Imperialsm" to describe American foreign policy doesn't work. How strange...that two people should come up with the same theory independently. This young fella must be a real genius to have come to the same conclusion as a tenured professor.
