  • @staffsmole only one problem, shaclketon's weren't built till the 1950's.

  • I saw her knock over a tiny cesna a few years back at Ysterplaat - moral of the story... if you're a puppy... don't taxi behind the big dogs while they are warming up their engines :D

  • I like the man in the grey boiler suit...

he looks like he's pushing his grandson in his pushchair to show him what he did during the war!

  • ahhh the sound of those Rolls Royce Griffons

  • Why would six people give this the thumbs down?......cookin sad sacks.....

  • They are able to absorb the full power/torque of the engines with smaller diameter props. If you look at the late radial powered fighters of WW11 & Korea-P-47,F4u Corsair, Hawker Furies you wil see huge 4 blade or even 5 blade props needed to apply the available power. They also help to dampen torque & spirel slipstream effect.

  • What's the advantage of contra-rotating blades?

  • looks like a 4 engined b25...

  • I'll try to scan it in at some point for you, or take a picture of it. Are you from SA?

  • Really? I'd like to see a photo, my dad would be very interested :)
